Position Summary/Description:

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking applicants for a fixed-term faculty position at the rank of Research

Assistant Professor in the laboratory of Dr. Joan Taylor, with expertise in translational research in cardiovascular disease and in animal models research. Research emphasis is currently placed on deciphering the mechanisms by which defects mitochondrial dynamics influence the severities of cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction, hypertension, and atherosclerosis. This emphasis is expected to be utilized to develop rigorous independent research, while also participating in existing projects, including collaboration with other scientists. As a member of the faculty, this position is expected to contribute to the informal teaching and mentoring of entry-level students and postdocs.

Education and Experience:

Interest and experience in public health-oriented disciplines are positively viewed. Hands-on experience of mouse in vivo experiments including echocardiography and mitochondrial function assays preferred.
