Product Specialist / Associate - Structured Finance & Advisory: As an Associate, you will primarily be responsible for key aspects related to the underwriting and execution of transactions in the US and Canada across the capital stack including construction financing, back-leverage term financing and financial advisory across the energy and infrastructure sectors (including renewables, digital infrastructure, and energy transition). The Associate will also occasionally support the other Structured Finance teams including Fund Finance, Tax Equity and Structured Real Estate. The Associate will also be integrally involved and have leadership responsibilities for origination.

Essential Functions/Responsibility Statements:

  • Oversee (and leads, as needed) the development of financial models and underwriting criteria in support of the group’s origination activities.

  • Oversee (and leads, as needed) production of credit applications, offering memoranda and engagement letters.

  • Research/analyze industries and market data.

  • Support and lead certain aspects of transaction execution, coordinating the underwriting process, due diligence, documentation and interface with other areas (credit, syndication other products involved).

  • Support in the structuring of the transaction: review of the key features of the financing strategy and any financial documentation.

  • Oversee work product of analysts on deal teams to ensure proper training and quality control.

  • Operate within compliance parameters and demonstrate sound business judgement.

  • Support marketing and origination of new transactions by preparing pitch books and marketing materials and attending client meetings with senior colleagues.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with other departments and develop internal network to enhance effectiveness.

  • Develop and maintain expertise in primary sectors covered by the Structured Finance team including helping develop ideas and related content.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent degree and/or work experience.

  • Master's Degree in Business or a related field. (Preferred)

Work Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in Structured Finance / Project Finance or a comparable field.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated success structuring and executing project finance or similar transactions.

  • Self-motivated.

  • Very strong interpersonal communication skills, complemented by both excellent verbal and written communication in English.

  • High level of proficiency in project finance modeling.

  • Presentation and public speaking skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation, as well as analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated complex analysis skills.

  • Detailed knowledge and experience in some / all of the sectors covered including technical knowledge, industry knowledge and trends.

  • Experience with transactions that utilize tax equity is a plus.

  • Ability to travel within assigned territory as required.

  • Experience in debt advisory, acquisition finance, bond and equity underwriting, private placements, asset securitization, public ratings and/or M&A is a plus.

  • Strong analytical / problem solving skills.

  • Ability to translate data into information.

  • Sales oriented, energetic, and self-motivated with strong initiative to help team achieve revenue and fee objectives.

  • FINRA series 79 and 63, or will need to be obtained shortly after joining.

Working Conditions: Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. Occasional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown. For NYC Job Applicants: The base annual salary range for this position is $175,000-$225,000. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
