Neuberger Berman Business Control Analyst/Associate in New York, New York

Summary

The Private Wealth (PW) business at Neuberger Berman is comprised of approximately 43 advisory teams managing $72bn in assets for a diverse clientele. At PW, we offer comprehensive wealth strategies and investment management solutions, spanning equities, fixed income, private equity, and uncorrelated strategies. The PW Business Control Team is a relatively new, high-impact unit focused on strategic initiatives for PW. As a Business Control Associate, you'll work closely with the Head of PW Business Control, enjoying a wide-ranging exposure to different facets of our business.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough reviews and approvals of investment policy statements (IPS), asset allocation/strategy proposals, and wealth analysis plans for our clients.

  • Proactively identify and address IPS "out of tolerance" situations, ensuring any outlier items are escalated to the Head of Business Control and other relevant stakeholders as needed.

  • Oversee and approve business exception items, including non-standard fee schedules, commission waivers, outside business activities/third-party private placements for employees, and cross-channel issues.

  • Offer project support as our team collaborates with Business Objectives Implementation (BOI), Centralized Business Services (CBS), external vendors, IT, and the PW Investment Group (PWIG) to define and implement new oversight tools through improved workflows, rules, and automation.

  • Review and action to resolve various billing exceptions to mitigate financial ramifications to the firm.

  • Adapt to evolving responsibilities, as the newly established team aims to address critical business needs effectively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with relevant financial services industry experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in the financial industry is preferred.

  • SIE, Series 7, and 66 licenses or ability to obtain within the first 90 days.

  • A highly motivated individual with exceptional attention to detail and time management skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

  • Excellent PC skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • A flexible approach to work, embodying a "no task too small" attitude.

  • Previous experience or a solid understanding of asset allocation and portfolio construction is highly desirable.

Compensation Details

The salary range for this role is $60,000-$80,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus.
