Job Description:
Power & Utilities is a $1.1 trillion market cap sector with 55 stocks under coverage across Power, Regulated & Unregulated Utility companies. This sector garners high investor interest across institutional and retail clients and generates meaningful trading volume of more than $4 billion per day. The Power & Utilities equity research team is seeking an ambitious candidate who is keen to gain exposure to the sector.
The ideal candidate will have between 3+ years of experience in equity research, buy-side investing or investment banking, focusing on the Power & Utilities sector. This role supports the team in all aspects from idea generation to participating in company meetings, financial modeling, providing market overviews and crafting of investment theses for stock picks.
Responsibilities
Perform complex financial modeling & valuation work
Write regular industry and company reports and company launch initiations from scratch
Develop databases integral to our research product
Demonstrate strong industry knowledge and business judgment
Work with Senior Analysts to develop key industry themes
Build relationships and facilitate information flow with contacts at covered companies
Participate and contribute to client meetings and events
Attend meetings and interact with key opinion leaders
Closely follow and understand market, industry and company-specific activity, and relay to analyst when traveling
Generate data-driven investment ideas
Leverage our robust network of industry contacts
Interact regularly with clients
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience
3+ years of experience focusing on the Power & Utilities sector (equity research, buy side experience or investment banking experience)
Hedge fund experience or sell-side experience in servicing hedge fund clients is a plus
Strong writing and modeling skills. Must be an expert at MS Word and MS Excel
Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced and intense environment
Must have excellent communications skills, written and verbal
Must enjoy following the stock market and doing desktop and field research
Along with Finance and Accounting, should have basic understanding of economics, macroeconomic factors, international affairs, and policy/politics
Must have strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task
Must work well in a collaborative team environment
