One of our largest banking clients is looking for Internal Audit Associates to join the Controllers/Tax team in their Birmingham, UK office. Internal Audit's mission is to independently assess the firm's internal control structure, including the firm's governance processes and controls, and risk management and capital and anti-financial crime frameworks, raise awareness of control risk and monitor the implementation of management's control measures. As the third line of defense, Internal Audit's mission is to protect the assets, reputation, and sustainability of the organization. This team is specifically responsible for identifying risks within the Controllers/Tax division and presenting audit findings to IA senior management. They are looking for individuals that can help execute on the various audit projects, as well as support Books and Records and other miscellaneous projects of the division. The ideal candidate has previous audit background from a Big 4 consulting firm or large investment bank and some understanding of financial concepts related to controllers and/or tax functions (US GAAP/IFRS, regulatory capital reporting, recovery and resolution regulatory requirements, or direct/indirect taxation). Some additional main responsibilities include:

- Develop and maintain a good understanding of business areas, its products, and supporting functions

- Plan and execute audit testing to ensure audit fieldwork is focused on the right areas and documentation meets high quality standards

- Identify risks, assess mitigating controls, and make recommendations on improving the control environment

- Prepare commercially effective audit conclusions and findings, and present to IA senior management and business clients

- Follow-up on open audit issues and their resolution

Skills and Requirements

- 3-5 years of audit or public accounting experience from a Big 4 consulting firm or large investment bank

- Knowledge in controllers/tax functions, such as regulatory capital/financial reporting, US GAAP/IFRS, recovery and resolution regulatory requirements, or direct/indirect taxation)

- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Solid analytical skills

- Highly motivated with the ability to multi-task and remain organized in a fast-paced environment - Relevant certification or industry accreditation (e.g., ACA, ACCA)

- Degree in a finance, accounting, or quantitative discipline null
