New York University Postdoctoral-level Researcher in New York, New York

The NYU CREATE lab (http://create.nyu.edu) is seeking to hire a researcher in digital media and learning sciences at the postdoctoral level. The appointment will initially be for one year, but may be renewable.

NYU CREATE is a consortium of scholars committed to conducting research, providing education, and fostering community interaction to design evidence-based digital media that addresses the needs of all learners. CREATE is a vibrant, dynamic lab comprised of several faculty PIs, web and app developers, graphics designers, doctoral students, master’s students, and undergraduate students contributing to a range of different funded projects. Current projects include the design and study of immersive collaborative VR simulations for learning, investigations of emotional design in screen-based and VR learning environments, and the investigation of the effect of digital play on children’s wellbeing, among others.

We seek highly motivated applicants with a passion for the study of digital media for learning who would like to take a leadership role in one or more of our projects, contribute to the design of research, data collection, data analysis, dissemination of results, and grant writing.

Anticipated Start Date: December 2022

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

By time of appointment, applicants should have a Ph.D. in learning sciences, educational technology, educational psychology, or a related area. The successful candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Experimental design in research with human participants

  • User research design for simulations, games, or XR

  • Human-Computer Interaction

  • Psychophysiological measures

  • Software design & development

All applicants must have strong written and oral communication skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and evidence of leadership skills. Experience mentoring graduate students is a plus.
