ABOUT THE ROLE:

At Resy, we are tackling hard problems with elegant solutions and scaling very quickly. As a Principal Architect, you will play a crucial role in taking our platform to the next level. A successful candidate will drive an architectural roadmap and keep it sequenced to deliver maximum value for all stakeholders quickly. Communication is critical as you will be interacting with executives, both technical and non-technical, as well as engineers to bring your vision to reality. Tying that vision to our data and delivering the platform that Resy will build current and future products upon should excite you. Being able to move between all aspects of our tech stack from web to mobile to backend or to infrastructure is natural. You will be working with several teams on geo-distributed scaling problems acting as a technological sommelier for the tools used.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive a roadmap in collaboration with all Resy business units to solve scaling challenges in a rapidly growing team.

  • Bring a principled approach for defining architecture at Resy across Web, Mobile and Backend.

  • Uplift the technical skills of the entire Engineering team, modeling excellence in self-directed learning, evaluation of new technologies and prioritization of issues.

  • Cultivate and maintain high levels of collaboration and communication across Resy and American Express.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience working as a Software Engineer, preferably in a mix of fast-paced startup environments and large corporate environments

  • 5 years of experience working as a Software Engineering Staff Engineer / Architect

  • You are a self-starter but very comfortable working closely with a team

  • You are comfortable working with stakeholders outside the Engineering team including our Compliance, Information Security, Product, Sales and Account Management teams

  • You have strong expertise with the following:

  • Python / Web frameworks

  • SQL / MySQL / Postgres

  • Implementing and building APIs, especially GraphQL

  • Single Page Applications, Server-side rendering, MV

  • and Reactive FE architectures

  • Familiarity with Mobile Frameworks

  • Monitoring system performance

  • Leading and growing teams of fellow engineers through complex deliveries

  • Ability to effectively interpret technical and business objectives, challenges and articulate solutions

  • A history of taking projects through the entire software development lifecycle from inception to delivery as a technical leader

  • A passion for documenting how systems work

BIG PLUS IF YOU HAVE:

  • Preferably a BS or MS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical discipline

  • Experience building compliant solutions for international markets

  • History of building and maintaining systems at large scale

  • Willingness to learn new technologies and exploit them to their optimal potential

  • You enjoy at least one of the following things: shishito peppers, uni, or creme anglaise

Salary Range: $220,000.00 to $320,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
