Job Description:

We are looking to hire a global head of Equities Smart Order Routing to modernize our Smart Order Routing platform and build a new Low latency SOR in C++; s/he should be a very technical, hands on coder who embodies the following: an automation first mindset, ownership & customer obsession, dives deep, looks to invent & simplify, disagrees and then commits, and is always curious and looking to learn. S/he will functionally manage 12-15+ people globally as well as write code.

This is a strategic imperative for the Equities business to be able to compete in this space where we are currently significantly lagging due to an older platform. This role needs a niche skill set of advanced C++ as well as low level machine design knowledge to build a competitive platform that can offer low double digit microseconds processing latencies. The current platform handles $300 billion in transactions daily in the US. By advancing our strategy and revamping the platform, we are looking to gain new clients for both Prime Brokerage and Electronic execution.

In addition to a strong development background, this role requires a financial background and/or a strong understanding of global markets. Hands-on development experience with pre trade, trade capture systems, reference data, market data, electronic trading and post trade systems is highly preferred. Must have front-office trading experience with an engineering leadership mindset, strong communicator with ownership and drive. The team will be focused on building tools, frameworks, etc. that drive end to end automation, trading desk support, and trading. There is a high degree of business interaction.

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years’ ‘hands on’ experience building low latency trading platforms in C++.

  • Deep understanding of Linux Operating System internals and Networking.

  • Experience with messaging systems and APIs (JMS, EMS, AMPS, and ultra-low-latency offerings).

  • 5+ years of leadership experience running distributed teams in a highly complex enterprise-wide setting with relevant Agile practices.

  • Smart Order Router / Electronic Trading System Development.

  • Advanced C++ low latency programming.

  • Low level machine design.

  • Global systems design/development.

  • Global business stakeholder management and communication.

  • 5+ years of exposure/experience with relevant modern programming paradigms (such as: cloud, containers, DevSecOps, SRE, CI/CB/CD, Jira/Jenkins/Confluence/git/modern source control strategies and tools, automation).

Desired Skills:

  • Java & Python (or similar scripting language experience).

  • Prior Cash or Derivatives market making experience with knowledge of market microstructure nuances.

Enterprise Role Summary:

This job is responsible for defining and leading the engineering approach for complex features to deliver significant business outcomes. Key responsibilities of the job include delivering complex features and technology, enabling development efficiencies, providing technical thought leadership based on conducting multiple software implementations, and applying both depth and breadth in a number of technical competencies. Additionally, this job is accountable for end-to-end solution design and delivery.
