Google Senior Staff Interaction Designer, Generative AI in New York, New York

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience in product design or UX.

  • Experience designing across multiple platforms, and working with technical/design teams to create user flows, wireframes, and building user interface mockups and prototypes.

  • Experience leading strategic planning initiatives.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 12 years of experience in product design or UX.

  • 4 years of experience leading design projects.

  • 3 years of experience working with executive leaders

  • Experience with or understanding of generative AI concepts (e.g., LLMs, diffusion models, etc.), development workflows, and use cases.

As an Interaction Designer, you’ll rely on user-centered design methods to craft industry-leading user experiences—from concept to execution. Like all of our UX jobs, you’ll collaborate with your design partners to leverage and evolve the Google design language to build beautiful, innovative, inspired products that people love to use.

Google Ads is helping power the open internet with the best technology that connects and creates value for people, publishers, advertisers, and Google. We’re made up of multiple teams, building Google’s Advertising products including search, display, shopping, travel and video advertising, as well as analytics. Our teams create trusted experiences between people and businesses with useful ads. We help grow businesses of all sizes from small businesses, to large brands, to YouTube creators, with effective advertiser tools that deliver measurable results. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $214,000-$305,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Articulate a clear and compelling strategy for our Generative AI and creative automation product offerings, and lead execution of design for near term efforts to advance this strategy.

  • Cultivate a user-centric approach to Generative AI and creative automation, leveraging UCD processes to ensure our investments in technology are rooted in user value.

  • Ensure the sustainability and vitality of the YouTube platform. Engender humane, ecosystem-centric thinking across product teams by tracing shifts in industry and AI technology evolution.

  • Cultivate rich, collaborative partnerships with Product Management, Engineering, UX Research, UX Design, Sales, and Data Science. Drive visibility and establish working models for key partners across AI UX, Research, YouTube, and other consumer surfaces.

  • Develop deep collaborative partnerships with research and analysis partners to understand our users and work to ensure design decisions are rooted in user needs.
