Staff Analyst Trainee I OA: $50,924 - $53,980 (Represented by TWU)

Staff Analyst Trainee I TA: $46,171 - $48,938 (New Hire Rate: $40,149; Rep by OSA)

Staff Analyst Trainee II OA: $55,001 - $61,111 (Represented by TWU)

Staff Analyst Trainee II TA: $49,864 - $55,406 (New Hire Rate: $43,361; Rep by OSA)

Transit Management Analyst Trainee OA: $54,146 (Flat Rate; Represented by TWU)

Transit Management Analyst Trainee TA: $52,037 (Flat Rate Non-Represented)

Responsibilities:

This trainee position is responsible for the day-to-day processing of timekeeping services including, but not limited to, the timely and accurate recording of employee time, tracking and maintenance of sick and annual leave accrual balances, review and reconciliation of payroll entries, and conduct audits of timekeeping records. The selected candidate will also assist to serve as a Liaison between Timekeeping and User departments, as well as, ensuring correct and consistent application of time & leave regulations based on policy, law, and Collective Bargaining Agreements. This position will be required to work overtime and on holidays, as needed, to meet payroll deadlines.

The incumbent day-to-day responsibilities includes, but is not limited to:

  • Process timesheets accurately into the ATS Timekeeping System.

  • Input OT hours and Job number entries weekly.

  • Review annual leave accrual usage in accordance with Policies and Regulations.

  • Identify and update payroll discrepancies prior to weekly Payroll Close.

  • Follow-up with employees for OT, job numbers, retroactive pay, other timesheet issues.

  • Review various timekeeping reconciliation reports to flag exceptions.

    Additional duties include:

  • Perform various audits as directed by ATS Timekeeping Manager.

  • Scan, file, and maintain official documentations and internal timekeeping records.

  • Follow up with decentralized locations for timely timesheet submissions.

  • Perform various office administrative duties as needed.

    Education and Experience:

    STAFF ANALYST TRAINEE I-II

    For Appointment to Salary Step 1:

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college.

For Appointment to Salary Step 2:

Completion of 1 year of satisfactory service at Step 1.

Transit Management Analyst Trainee

A master's degree from an accredited college in accounting, architecture,

business administration, computer science, economics, engineering, engineering

technology, finance, industrial psychology, mathematics, physics, public

administration, public policy, transportation planning, urban planning/studies,

human resources management, labor relations, operations research, security

management or in a related area; or

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by

24 credits in one of the areas listed in "1" above.

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong organizing skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines and exercise good judgement

  • Prior data processing experience preferred
