Job Description:

The role of VP Data Modeling is to develop, implement and maintain physical data models for domains with respect to financial services, in support of Aladdin Data strategy.

To ensure success in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of data warehousing, as well as expert communication/influencing skills. Ultimately, a top-notch data modeler should be able to design models that are atomic, reduce data redundancy, streamline data movements, and reduce TCO.

Typically, they work in a multi-disciplinary squad (we follow Agile!) which involves partnering with program, product managers and data stewards to expand product offering based on business demands. Design is an iterative process. Our goal is to drive up user engagement and adoption of the product while constantly working towards modernizing and improving product offering, performance, and scalability.

Support deployment and maintenance that requires close interaction with various teams. This requires maintaining a positive and collaborative working relationship with teams within DOE as well as with wider Aladdin developer community. Production support for applications is usually required for issues that cannot be resolved by operations team. Creative and inventive problem-solving skills for reduced turnaround times are highly valued.

Data Modeler Responsibilities:

· Communicate and advocate the value of Aladdin Data efforts in ontologies, and standardization and proactively leverage relationships throughout the ecosystem to align

to our vision and influence prioritization across partner teams

· Own and prioritize the roadmap for designing and implementing data models by working closely with a cross-functional team to ensure that all the right resources are aligned

· Implementing data strategies and designing physical data models.

· Evaluating existing data systems.

· Build conceptual/logical data models and work with data engineers to implement the physical data models and data flows.

· Developing best practices for data coding to ensure consistency within the system.

· Reviewing modifications of existing systems for cross-compatibility.

· Updating and optimizing local and metadata models.

· Evaluating implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency.

· Troubleshooting and optimizing data systems.

Data Modeler Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a similar field.

· 5+ years of hands-on experience with physical and relational data/semantic modeling.

· Domain expertise on financial services is a must.

· Expert knowledge of metadata management and related tools.

· Knowledge of mathematical foundations and statistical analysis.

· Expertise in Snowflake is an added advantage.

· Strong interpersonal skills.

· Experience with team management.

· Excellent communication and presentation skills.

· Advanced troubleshooting skills.

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $157,500 - $214,500. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
