Job Overview:

The Wellness Services Registered Dietitian will lead community nutrition education initiatives including KidsFit and Hannah s Kitchen children s culinary classes in addition to food access programs comprised of NBIMC s Beth Greenhouse SNAP and WIC eligible Farmers Market and Women s Wellness Food Farmacy. In conjunction with the Farmacy program, this role will provide nutrition counseling services for pregnant and postpartum women at NBIMC s Women s Health Center. The ideal applicant for this position should be energetic and passionate about nutrition education and food insecurity as it relates to the social determinants of health.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor s degree in nutrition and dietetics

  • Strong entry-level dietitians with group teaching experience are welcome to apply

  • Two years minimum experience in nutrition education and group teaching is preferred

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Preferred knowledge of food access challenges in the community and federal food assistance programs including SNAP, WIC, SFMNP and CACFP

Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable):

  • Certified Registered Dietitian Nutritionist accredited through CDR.

Essential Functions:

  • Organizing and teaching children s and adult nutrition and culinary education programs at the Rev. Dr. Ronald B. Christian Community Health and Wellness Center

  • Building a class roster and strong rapport with participating families

  • Developing healthy recipes and nutrition education activities and for children and parents

  • Oversees the Beth Greenhouse Farmers Market including produce procurement, market implementation and compliance with SNAP and WIC services

  • Provide medical nutrition therapy support for pregnant and postpartum women at the Women s Health Center including nutrition assessment, development and implementation of nutrition care plans and education and the ability to adjust dietary planning to cultural preferences.

  • Document appropriate nutrition history and care plan in writing in the EMR.

  • Assists with distribution and educational programs serving NBIMC s Women s Wellness Food Pharmacy

  • Records and analyzes data points related to behavior change, food frequency assessments, farmers market utilization statistics and more

  • Manages program expenses in accordance with grant funding

  • Engages grant funders and other community stakeholders and helps procure and leverage key partnerships that broaden community impact.

  • Supports the communication needs of the Wellness Services department
