What You Will Do

Job Summary

Responsible for operating a variety of machines to perform precision machining operations.

General Job Duties:

• Interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications.

• Set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines and machining centers.

• Fabricate and/or repair metallic and nonmetallic parts and components for complex pieces of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, specialized equipment, and attachments, and electric, diesel, gasoline rolling stock (i.e., tow motors forklifts).

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

Internal Candidates:

• Internal Maintenance department candidates must sign a job bid at the time the job vacancy is posted.

• Other internal candidates, outside the Maintenance department, must have submitted a request for transfer form, to Human Resources, prior to a Machinist job opening occurring.

External Candidates:

• High School Diploma / GED and 5+ years related experience as a Machinist OR equivalent U.S. military training and related machinist experience

• Completion of an approved apprenticeship program or trade school graduate is preferred

Work Environment and Physical Demand

All Candidates:

• Must be 21 years of age or older

• Successful completion of a sample shop test

• Be available to work any of 3 shifts and overtime, including weekends and holidays as necessary
