Boeing Commercial Airplanes ( BCA ) South Carolina Design Center in North Charleston , SC has an exciting opportunity for a Structural Design Engineer - Mid-Career or Experienced.

The engineer will be an integral member of the Engineering Design Center, providing engineering solutions to a wide-ranging list of programs, projects and components across the Enterprise. We are a team of fast-paced, eager engineering and bold innovators willing to push boundaries.

The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Position Responsibilities:

Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.

Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.

Performs, integrates analytical and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.

Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.

Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience:

Bachelors of Science (or greater) in engineering or STEM.

Experience in the related job field

Level 3: 3+ years

Level 4: 7+ years

3+ years of related work experience and/or combination of additional education and relevant experience with 3D/CAD modeling (Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, SketchUp, Pro-E, 3DX, etc.).

Ability to support regular and emergent domestic travel to support our customers. (Willing to travel up to 10% of the time).

3+ years of experience in Structural Composite design and configuration.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Model Based Definition, CATIA, ENOVIA, PDM

Ability to work in a team environment

Ability to quickly adapt to program tools and procedures

Excellent problem-solving skills

5+ years of experience in aerospace/ aircraft structural design

Ability to provide product definition and technical support across the value stream

Typical Education/Experience:

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering or STEM, (e.g. Bachelor).

Mid-level (Level 3):

Typically, 5 years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years related work experience).

Experienced (Level 4):

Typically, 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience).

Travel: 10 %

Relocation : This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Summary :

Level 3: $89,900 - $121,500

Level 4: $112,500 - $151,500
