Manufacturing Engineer I
Medtronics Surgical Solutions is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team. The position will be in the New Product Development (NPD) Pilot Manufacturing team. The Engineer provides direct line support of products in Launch, Pilot and Commercialization phases. They perform troubleshooting of production equipment and tooling. Develop process improvements to decrease costs and scrap levels to ensure product delivery. They collaborate with their product NPD teams such as other AME, NPD Development and NPD Design Engineers.
The Engineer will prioritize daily production activities, improvements, scheduling and production tracking. The Position is in a fast-paced, and collaborative environment that is supportive of program initiatives and compliant with the companys best practices, Tenets and Philosophy.
Essential Functions:
Create process documentation including SWI, Control Plans and job safety analysis sheets
Create Process Flows, assembly line layouts, balance tables, assembly capacity analysis, and EHS project plans
Manage the day to day activities of the production cells for new products post launch. This includes making improvements to achieve cost, quality and efficiency targets
Actively participate in COS/Lean initiatives to stabilize production lines and reduce the time to transfer to Plant
Support line validation / qualification activities for including IQ, OQ , MSA and PQ
Write testing protocols for product evaluations; oversee and analyze product evaluation requests
Actively participate in PFMEA, DFMEA, Process Mapping, and Critical to Quality (CTQ) reviews assuring specifications are well defined and documented
Provide input for all assembly tooling required to support new product development activity as required.
Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) on purchased tooling, systems and fixtures.
Department Specific / Non-Essential Functions
Travel to supplier sites as required, 10%.
Continue to enhance engineering and leadership skills through additional training and education
Follow established guidelines and management direction with regard to engineering decisions and departmental / company policy
Team player that can accept input, advice and suggestions from other team members
A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for production support engineering with respect to testing methods, procedures, and problems; device specification and yield problems; minor redesign of devices and masks; analysis of customer returns; supplier related engineering changes and optimizing device production relative to cost constraints.
Assumes responsibility for device and/or internally produced or externally purchased components after transfer into high-volume production and usually responsible for entire device manufacturing operations other than wafer fabrication.
May assist customer in device usage problems or customer testing of complex devices.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree required

BS in Engineering Discipline - Mechanical, Industrial, and/or Biomedical Engineering.
Self-Driven and Motivated
Ability to Multitasking
Knowledge of MS Office
Previous exposure of Medical Device manufacturing and experience with GMPs.
Time Management and Prioritization skills
Strong/Proven Project Leadership Skills
Knowledge of 3-D CAD systems, Creo/ProE
Knowledge MS Project
Knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC) Process
Quality/Quality Assurance experience a plus.
Intermediate leadership skills and project management skills.
Strong Interpersonal skills
Dynamic, positive attitude
