Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Northridge, CA is currently seeking an Inspector 3 to support various programs under Advanced Weapons Systems . An Inspector 3 uses predetermined methods, operations, setups and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products such as electronic units and subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies or mechanical units, subassemblies, structural flaws, internal defects, and missing welds. Uses various measuring devices. Accepts, rejects, or reworks defective or malfunctioning units or systems. Works from blueprints, diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Performs line clearances after each lot to ensure all materials from the previous lot have been removed.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be working in Receiving Inspection to perform inspection on a wide range of products, including electronic circuit cards, electronic assemblies, electronic cables, connectors, various mechanical parts, and other miscellaneous parts to ensure the products meets purchase order and other established requirements.

Experience in the following areas is required:

  • Use of various inspection equipment, including microscopes, digital calipers and micrometers, and other measuring equipment is required

  • Computer technology is required. Experience with TipQA is a plus

  • Reading and interpretation of engineering drawing and parts list requirements

  • Understand of the basics of geometric dimensioning and tolerances

  • Rejection report writing

  • Working in a teamwork environment with a diverse group of professionals

  • Able to read and follow work instructions, procedures and specifications

  • Must be able to work in a fast pace environment.

Basic Qualifications - Inspector 3:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and four (4) years additional education and/or related experience.

  • Familiarity with soldering and soldering workmanship acceptance standards

  • Must have good understanding of quality systems in a manufacturing environment

  • Must be capable of coordinating non-conformance incidents and handling procedures

  • Must be able to obtain certification to J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, and IPC/WHMA-A-620

  • Must be able to obtain a US Gov't issued Secret clearance within a timeframe set forth by Management; US citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interim/Full Secret Clearance

  • Familiar with AS9100 Quality Management System

  • TipQA Experience

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

  • Familiar with Costpoint MRP system

  • Must be able to effectively communicate in both written and verbal forms.

Salary Range: $53,000 - $88,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
