CASEWORKER & SOCIAL WELFARE EXAMINER VACANCIESThe Chenango County Department of Social Services is soliciting applications for Caseworkers and Social Welfare Examiners. Duties for Caseworkers involve providing case management services to clients in either the Foster Care, Child Protective Services, Employment, or Adult Services Unit. To qualify candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree. The duties for Social Welfare Examiners involve working directly with applicants and clients to determine their eligibility for various social service programs. To qualify candidates must have completed at least 60 credit hours in any field of study; OR have a HS diploma or GED and two years of full-time paid experience or its’ part-time equivalent in examining, investigating, or evaluating claims for assistance, veterans or unemployment benefits, insurance, or a similar program. The positions are Full-Time and include a full benefits package. The hourly 2023 start rate for Caseworker is $24.82 and Social Welfare Examiner is $19.64. These titles have been approved to be filled without the need to take an exam for a one-year period ending May 23, 2024, through the HELP Program of the NYS Department of Civil Service. Candidates appointed permanently to these titles will NOT need to take an exam and will remain in their position even when the HELP Program ends.
