Chenango County Director of Information Technology in Norwich, New York

Chenango County's Department of Information Technology has an opening for a Director of Information Technology. This is a Department Head position responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the activities of the Chenango County Information Technology Department. The incumbent oversees the computer programming, systems analysis, networking, main-frame operation, computer maintenance and repair, technical support and training, and other information technology services provided by the Information Technology Department to other County Departments. A small amount of travel to various work sites is required to fulfill the duties of the position. Work is performed under the general direction of the Finance Committee of the Chenango County Board of Supervisors with considerable leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in planning and carrying out the duties of the position. Supervision is exercised over the work of subordinate Information Technology Department staff. Does related work as required.<p> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER: (A.) Possession of a Bachelors Degree and four years of full-time paid experience or its part-time equivalent in information systems management, network administration, computer programming or systems analysis, which shall have included or been supplemented by two years of supervisory experience; OR (B.) Possession of an Associates Degree in electronic data processing and six years of full-time paid experience or its part-time equivalent in information systems management, network administration, computer programming or systems analysis, which shall have included or been supplemented by two years of supervisory experience; OR (C.) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and eight years of full-time paid experience or its part-time equivalent in information systems management, network administration, computer programming or systems analysis, which shall have included or been supplemented by two years of supervisory experience*; OR (D.) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of above. Special Requirement: (1.) At time of appointment and continuing throughout employment, a candidate/incumbent must possess a valid New York State Drivers License and a driving record acceptable to the Countys insurance carrier. (2.) This is a Department Head position and, therefore, a Public Officer position under NYS Public Officers Law. Accordingly, an appointee must comply with the County residency requirement set forth in NYS Public Officers Law and County of Chenango Local Law No. 2 of 1977 which means they must be or become a resident of and be domiciled within Chenango County and maintain such residency and domiciliary for as long as they are employed in the position.<p> The position has a 40 hour work week and 2024 starting salary range of $89,000 - $98,000 depending on experience, and includes a full benefits package.
