News Corp Australia Commercial Finance Analyst in NSW, Australia
What’s the role?
Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager, this role partners with the leadership team of the Technology, Data and Digital (TDD) business unit at News Corp Australia.
You will support the TDD Commercial Finance team and key business stakeholders to deliver an efficient cost base supported by standardised and consistently high quality reporting, planning and analysis to provide the necessary financial insight to make informed business decisions.
This role is integral to ensuring TDD investment is aligned with News Corp’s strategic direction to drive long term profitability for the business.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with key stakeholders to ensure the best commercial decisions are made
Provide insightful and robust reporting detailing financial and non-financial
information to key stakeholders
Prepare and own the budgets, forecasts and monthly financial results.
Financial review and assist in the preparation of investment business cases
Influence Project Management stakeholders to improve capex forecast
accuracy and capture costs in timely manner.
Develop reporting and recommendations to improve budget management for your portfolio across all expenditure lines
Look for process and efficiency improvements that will benefit the business and implement in partnership with your stakeholders
Analyse and explain variances between actual results vs budget and forecast
Month-end activities including journal entries and accruals
Monitor financial performance and identify the risks and opportunities
Ad hoc work as required
Who are you?
CA/CPA qualified
Big 4 accounting firm experience preferred
2-3 years experience in a similar role
Strong commercial acumen & professional accounting competency
Excellent financial acumen, with experience in cost management, and
partnering & influencing
Strong analytical, communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
Strategic thinker and self-starter with a commercial approach to business
Resilient with an ability to manage competing deadlines
Advanced Excel skills.
