Redbox Manager Cloud DevOps (Remote) in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois

Redbox has a hybrid workforce and many of our jobs are available to be remote with the ability to use our corporate office spaces which are located in Oakbrook Terrace, IL, Bellevue, WA and soon to open in Los Angeles.

Redbox has expanded into the exciting world of digital streaming and is looking for talented individuals to join our team as we make our move into modern mobile, web and consumer electronics applications. We’re currently modernizing our approaches to development and are seeking a talented Dev Ops Manager to help transform our approaches to software development.

The Redbox experience touches tens of millions of users and we’re growing our teams as we modernize and add streaming video and other features into our applications. In this role, you will take ownership for building out a best-in-class Cloud centric Dev Ops team, having ownership of dates, goals, roadmap, and building of the team and its process. You’ll build out tooling that creates fully automated pipelines with single click to deploy solutions to empower developers. You’ll help drive innovation, with a mission on bringing modern development practices into the teams with developer empowerment, collaborative partnership and shared product ownership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and build up our cloud DevOps team, bringing best-in-class technology and solutions

  • Hire or find within the teams the talent you need to build the solutions

  • Help architect, design and build-out our multi-region / modern cloud designs

  • Modernize and drive building tooling and release methodologies

  • Work with development teams on driving best practices for automation, testing, and troubleshooting

  • Work in partnership with teams on new ideas, designs, estimates and feature roadmaps

  • Continuously look for new technologies and approaches for the team

  • Strive for A/B testing and data driven development with a customer first mindset

Education & Experience

  • BS in Computer Science or related discipline preferred; a High School Diploma or GED plus 2 additional years of relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5+ years of Dev Ops experience, ideally in one or more the big 3 cloud solutions

  • Current working Cloud experience

  • Experience with automation tooling and best practices is a strong benefit

  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Gitlab / Netflix Spinnaker or other popular solutions

  • Experience in administering, troubleshooting, deploying, and configuring modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Experience leading teams and/or projects

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong Dev Ops background with demonstrable skills of developing successful developer operation tooling and systems

  • Hands-on Dev Ops skills; you’re expected to lead by example

  • Understanding of routing and proxy technologies such as NGINX / HaProxy and other open source solutions

  • Knowledge of networking, Linux shell and DevOps coding skills with Python or other languages
