CEC is seeking an entry-level Technician with an interest in bridge and transportation projects to join our Transportation Practice. This position will directly support CECs mission to eliminate aging infrastructure and drive community growth by helping to deliver quality design and service to its clients. CECs Transportation team has a long history of state and local agency transportation services consisting of technical expertise from our Oklahoma offices and emerging offices in Texas and Arkansas.

Begin your knowledge with experiences in a broad range of structure types from the detailing of conventional grade separations to complex flyover bridges to major open water crossings. Collaborate with professional engineers to produce solutions that are verified through team cooperation and experiences.

The selected candidate will have a certificate from a college or technical school in computer aided drafting or a minimum of six months of experience and/or training in computer aided drafting or related construction experience. In this role you will learn about plan production and project delivery for transportation structures and components associated with our client transportation needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- - Utilizes computer software to draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts, including plans for the construction of bridges, including but not limited to cross sections, details, and schedules, which are designed by others.

{=html} <!-- --> - - Calculates dimensions, square footage and component specifications and material quantities using calculator or computer.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One year certificate from college or technical school or six months to one year related experience and/or training.
  • English language skills: ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning skills: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. AutoCAD proficiency preferred.
  • Organizational skills: ability to prioritize and organize tasks; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Remote connectivity device with data plan sufficient for company requirements, such as multi-factor authentication, time and mileage tracking, expense reimbursement, e-mail, and virtu l communications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a technical nature.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with the fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
  • Ability to sit up to eight hours per day.
  • Ability to manipulate computer mouse up to eight hours per day.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk, including over uneven surfaces, for extended periods of time (field visits).
  • Ability to see clearly 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more; ability to identify and distinguish colors; ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds intermittently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilation.
