Oracle Principal Software Engineer - Cloud SaaS Architecture in Olympia, Washington

Building off our Cloud momentum, Oracle has formed a new organization - Oracle Health Applications & Infrastructure (OHAI). This team focuses on product development and product strategy for Oracle Health, while building out a complete platform supporting modernized, automated healthcare. We are looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems using Cloud Technologies in all areas of software engineering: distributed systems, data pipelines, data management, analytics and ML, identity, security, and observability. This is an opportunity to design and build new analytics applications using OCI technology. As a Senior Principal SW Engineer, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to design and develop data-centric applications, using ML models to enhance insights provided to our customers. Who we are looking for: We are looking for Consulting Members of Technical Staff with experience in building data centric applications for public cloud services. You have experience with the design of major features and launching them into production. You’ve built and operated high-scale public cloud services and have deep understanding of data-based application and big data pipelines. You work on most projects and tasks independently and extend technical leadership to development teams. In this role, you will enable development teams by driving design of major service components, working with engineering managers and TPMs, and providing direct guidance to more junior team members. You are able to go from high level system design, writing architectural documentation and driving engineering peer reviews to hands-on prototyping, code reviews and project bootstrapping. You are technically strong and get a lot done. You can balance speed and quality with iteration and incremental improvements. You’ve made life easier for other developers and have motivated your teams to make both process and service improvements with your ability to automate and instrument.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Design, Build and Maintain a SaaS application built on OCI Services

  • Propose and make design architectural design decisions for SaaS application built using OCI Services.

  • Oversee adherence to OHAI onboarding requirements for a new application.

  • Ensure security is designed into the solution.

  • Design and develop high-performing, scalable, and fault tolerant cloud infrastructure.

  • Keep existing infrastructure in conformance with Oracle requirements.

  • Be aware of, drive, and implement new capabilities.

  • Ensure existing infrastructure is healthy and performant.

  • Ensure security measures are applied to the infrastructure.

  • Automate infrastructure deployment.

  • Define and drive effort to update current operational systems to the latest Oracle Cloud technologies.

  • Lead individual projects priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with your technical expertise.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have proven experience building and supporting scalable, highly available, and secure infrastructure on public cloud platforms like OCI, AWS, Azure or GCP.

  • 5+ years of Cloud Infrastructure knowledge to include:

  • Cloud network architectures, DNS, Routing Rules, Load Balancers.

  • Security, SSL, Certificates.

  • Automation using Terraform.

  • Experience with programming in a high-level language such as Python, Java, Golang, BASH scripting, JavaScript, etc.

  • Experience with Data Engineering architecture and services, such as Data Warehouse, Data Lakes, Data Integration, Data Flow, and Apache Spark.

  • Experience with telemetry, observability, and analytics tool/applications, such as ELK, Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus, and Splunk.

  • Experience with Linux systems management.

  • Experience defining & building Docker images.

  • Experience with Agile, DevOps, and Ops methodologies and practices.

  • Experience using and building CI/CD pipelines with git-based repositories.

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and social skills and an ability to optimally connect with both business and technical teams.

  • Experience with networking technologies (SDN, routing, switching, IP addressing, DNS, Load balancers, etc.)

  • Ability to make clear, concise, and compelling presentations.

  • Being proactive about security and fault tolerance

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent related field experience.

  • Public Cloud SaaS, PaaS Services and/or related technology experience in Cloud Engineering Infrastructure Development

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with Oracle OCI services.

  • Experience in HealthCare space.

  • Experience with Prometheus, AlertManager and Grafana.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
