Job Title Director of Advising, Undergraduate Program, College of Business Administration

Essential Functions

The Director of Advising provides advising leadership to the College of Business Administration (CBA), overseeing all advisors inCBA, as well as advising assistants and peer advisors in order to ensure information accuracy and professional standards are met. The Director is responsible for hiring, training, development and planning for advisors, advising assistants and peer advisors. The Director will be responsible for handling office scheduling (including time off) of advisors, the advising assistant, and peer advisors, to make sure there is adequate coverage. This position will assign special projects to advisors and peer advisors and make sure the needs of the office, students and college are met.

The Director will create and maintain effective working relationships with the Registrar’s office, Enrollment Management and other offices around campus to work on special projects. The Director will also work in collaboration with the Chairpersons of Departments and theCBAUndergraduate Program Council (UPC) on continuing curriculum development. The Director will work with Department Chairpersons to guide course scheduling and ensuring course scheduling matches students needs. The Director will communicate advising information to all advisors and maintain content knowledge through periodic training reviews. The Director oversees theCBAadvisors in following of college procedures and implementation of processes that will benefit the students while maintaining the college standards.

The Director of Advising will work closely with the Associate Dean and Dean to ensure advising needs are being met in all areas. The Director of Advising will also adviseCBAstudents and maintain a student advising load to help distribute the caseload in the department. The Director of Advising will also serve in committees representingCBAadvisors or University advisors, direct projects in support ofCBAstudent services, help with presentations, recruitment events and orientation.

Work Schedule Generally 8-5, Monday – Friday. Occasional evening or early morning advising on week days, some weekends, for college fairs, orientation or recruiting.

Additional Duties

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree. Experience handling multiple caseloads.

  • At least three years of advising experience in an academic setting.

  • Attention to detail is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in higher education preferred.

  • Previous student advising experience and familiarity withUNOprograms and procedures preferred.

  • International experiences helpful. Prefer previous advising experience in the College of Business Administration, and supervisory experience.
