WSP is currently initiating a search for a Drainage/Water Resources Engineer for our Southern California market . This position can be based in either or San Diego, Orange, or San Bernardino office .
Typical projects involve hydrologic and hydraulic studies, floodplain management and watershed planning projects, drainage and erosion control, stormwater BMP design, and environmental investigation and remedial design, etc.
Candidate will serve as Water Resources Engineer and Deputy Project Manager on variety of projects.
Produce hydrologic and hydraulic studies including stormwater modeling, steady state and dynamic river modeling, conveyance system modeling, flood resilience planning and design, and sediment transport and scour analysis.
Communicate with clients, establish goals and objectives for project teams, and scheduling and coordinating resources to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the performance expectations of the client.
Obtain project data and information concerning water and transportation engineering works and requirements including drawings, specifications, project cost information, etc
Perform AutoCAD or MicroStation drafting to support various design teams.
Use the following software: ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, FLOW3D, PCSWMM, HydroCAD AutoCAD and Microstation.
Apply regulatory knowledge with CTDEEP, FEMA, USACE, USDOT and FHWA.
Who You Are
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience in water resources engineering, design and modeling.
High competency levels in multiple disciplines including hydrology, hydraulics, master planning, feasibility studies, stormwater design, steady state and dynamic modeling, conveyance systems design, hydraulic structures, pump stations, watershed assessment, and stream restoration.
Must function independently minimal supervision in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Experience Computation Fluid Dynamics Modeling (CFD) preferred.
PE License in California or ability to obtain within 2 years.

Expected Salary: $61,000 - $128,900
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
