Position Announcement
Utah Valley University is in search of part-time Resident Leader's! Working under the direction of the Upward Bound Program Director, the Resident leader works with a group of high school students grades 9th - 12th. Supervises activities and workshops, including study sessions, and attending weekly staff meetings. Oversees and leads student committees. Tracks student progress and class attendance, and tutors students when needed. Ensures the safety of students while in dorms and on field trips.
Please Note: This is a continuous recruitment for the spring semester for positions that will begin June 2nd. This is a summer position. Two days being trained in the month of May and the work schedule will be from June 2 - 28 with the hours listed below.
Shift 1:
Monday 8:00 am - 3:30 pm, In-Person 7.5 hoursTuesday 8:00 am - 3:30 pm, In-Person 7.5 hoursWednesday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm, In-Person 4 hoursThursday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm, Online 4 hoursFriday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm, Online 4 hoursFriday 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, In-Person (staff meeting) 1 hour
Shift 2:
Sunday 6:30 pm - 11:30 pm, In-Person 5 hoursMonday 3:30 pm - 11:30 pm, In-Person 8 hoursTuesday 3:30 pm - 11:30 pm, In-Person 8 hoursWednesday 12:30 pm 6:30 pm, In-Person 6 hours
Thursday - No WorkFriday 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, In-Person Staff Meeting 1 hour
Summary of Responsibilities
• Guides high school students. Performs tutoring and helps students succeed.
• Assists students academically and socially in college setting. Attends classes and workshops with students.
• Supervises various committees and activities as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation with a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of two years of college education.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of conducting workshops for high school students.
• Knowledge of policies and procedures in safety and ethical behavior.
Skills:
• Skills in interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.
• Skills in using basic office equipment.
Abilities:
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with a diverse group.
• Ability to get along with different types of personalities.
