The Associate Operations Manager - Laser Production, manages the laser production activities and works with the production and manufacturing technicians to ensure that the day-to-day operational needs of the business are being met. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring compliance to the Quality Management System.

L3Harris covers a variety of customer segments including U.S. Federal Government, Other Governments, Defense and Aerospace, and Commercial, both international and domestic. This requires the procurement team to be compliant with all government and agency laws and regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Works under moderate level of guidance and direction.

  • Manages and directs the daily activities of all assemblers, laser tech personnel, RMA personnel, ESS technicians and material handlers.

  • Monitors and maintains performance to schedule and develops plans to meet productivity demands and complete by the required delivery times.

  • Responsible for the safety, productivity, quality, morale and overall performance of their direct report staff and ensures that specified quality standards are met for all tasks completed.

  • Understands and participates in the development of department budgets, staffing plans and obligations.

  • Establishes and promotes teamwork atmosphere between departments to accomplish company mission.

  • In coordination with management, assists in the interview process; trains, mentors and disciplines subordinates.

  • Prepares performance evaluations for his/her subordinates.

  • Maintain necessary preventative maintenance cycles of time and steps taken to ensure production machines are at peak performance.

  • Demonstrates ethical and professional behavior in accordance with company values including accurate time keeping.

  • Performs job duties in a manner that maintains compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations, policies and procedures.

  • Coordinates with other departments and other disciplines as required meeting objectives.

  • Responsible for production integrity of customer deliverable product

  • Champion continuous improvement.

  • Maintains Company culture.

  • All other assignments as required.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 6 years prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

  • 4+ years experience working with military grade optics or lasers

  • 4+ years experience using Microsoft Office tools

  • 3+ years experience in a laser / optic manufacturing environment

  • 2+ years experience creating and presenting project-level reports, presentations and deliverables that reflect risk and status to program management and senior management

  • 2+ years developing schedules for staff and / or projects

  • 2+ years participating in / leading GEMBA

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of and experience working in areas such as electrical assembly, environmental stress screening (ESS), Clean Rooms, RMA, lasers manufacturing, diode pumps, flash lamps and Lean Manufacturing Skills.

  • Proven ability to lead and guide employees and foster a team environment.

  • Possess exceptional communication (both oral and written) and listening skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information.

  • Strong relationship building skills at all levels of the organization and the ability to work effectively across functions within a matrix environment.

  • Detail oriented, and possess the ability to make timely and informed decisions.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and possess a willingness to accept accountability for one’s own actions and his/her subordinates.

  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions and disseminate information contained.

  • Able and willing to take on new projects and learn additional aspects of the operation.

  • Continuous improvement experience or certificate in Lean Six Sigma.

  • Excellent organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail.

  • Takes proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.

  • Ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of, FAR/DFARs, Prime and program flow down requirements, Quality Assurance Codes, and Trade Compliance Laws.

  • Able to additional hours, including evenings and weekends to meet customer commitments.
