The role you’ll contribute:

When you join our team of over 40 Outpatient Clinics across Central Florida, you will be part of a winning team of experts dedicated to whole-person care to help our patients heal, strengthen and renew. We serve patients Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Polk, Volusia, Flagler and Lake Counties with a dedicated Team of therapists, clinicians and staff willing to carry on AdventHealth’s mission in the communities we serve.

As an Occupational Therapist in an outpatient setting you will provide professional direct and indirect services to specific age groups in the outpatient rehabilitation settings. Utilizes process improvement in achieving the goals of the Sports Med and Rehab Department. Accept the responsibility to practice autonomously and collaboratively in all practice environments to provide best practice to the patient/client. Autonomous practice is characterized by independent, self-determined, professional judgment and action.

  • Engages in promoting evidence-based standards of care and lifelong learning through autonomous and collaborative participation in research, journal club/reviews, teaching/mentoring/CI, and/or clinical practice education within a peer group.

  • Regularly participates in marketing to physicians/physician practices to build referral relationships with a minimum of 2 contacts per month. Supports consumer marketing and public awareness through participation in community events, educational lectures/speaking, and/or other extension of clinical expertise to the community as approved by manager or director

  • Actively supports scheduling so that each patient meets the plan of care as agreed upon by the patient and referring physician by adjusting and adapting their own schedule and/or working within the team in order to meet the patients’ needs. Willingly adjusts and adapts to changes in patient census by altering working hours to assist in other centers/programs as approved and observed by manager or director

  • Performs evaluations and re-evaluations according to standards and recommended techniques. Establishes, implements and adapts an individualized treatment plan of care including appropriate goal setting, treatment activities and frequency. Modifies treatment plan or discharges patients as appropriate and/or according to standards of practice and payer guidelines.

  • Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department. Facilitates further development of staff clinical competency on an as-needed basis.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Current valid State license as an Occupational Therapist

  • Board Certification from the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) or the Hand Therapy Certification Commission (HTCC)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy and five or more years of experience as an occupational therapist OR Master’s in Occupational Therapy and one or more years of experience as an occupational therapist

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous experience or clinical rotations in an outpatient setting

  • Previous hand therapy experience and certification
