The PDH1 production facility atOyster Creek, TXhas an opening for aSenior Process Safety Engineer. PDH1 is Dow's only on-purpose propylene plant and uses the Oleflex technology licensed from UOP.

About you
You will own the facility process safety program, serve as Process Safety Focal Point and provide Improvement Engineer support for the plant. You have both strong technical and interpersonal skills along with a high level of initiative. This role requires work with multiple functions and diverse workgroups.
Also, you can complete each of the following tasks:
Serve as a SME to support process safety management systems and support major projects within the facility.
Owns and drives a strong Process Safety Near Miss program as the primary method to proactively reduce process safety risk of the unit
Leads effective Process Safety self-assessments and is capable to identify areas of weaknesses and prioritize gap closure to continuously reduce the process safety risk of the unit
Collaborates with facility leadership to create and maintain a plant based Process Safety Strategy.
Partners with plant operations personnel to secure process data for identification of technology gaps, improvement opportunities, and project definitions.
Identifying plant improvements that are aligned to business objectives.
Providing technical plant support in specialized areas including process simulation, modeling, risk analysis, and process optimization.
Serve as an active member of the LHC Process Safety Team and TXO Process Safety Network.
Lead specific initiatives designed to improve process safety performance in the PDH1Hydrocarbons facility.
Lead LOPA revalidations. Facilitate RC/PHAs, and New Leader Reviews.
Facilitate LPP gap assessments and participate in plant audits.
Serve as an MOC Reviewer for changes with process safety impact.
Perform other process safety reviews as needed, i.e. Root Cause investigations, HAZOP, fault tree, etc…
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in a chemical production facility or working on projects
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Your preferred qualifications include:
- Working knowledge of LPP’s, LOPA and other Dow Process Safety systems
Your skills, knowledge, and abilities include:
Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently are important aspects of this job.
Ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously.
