As an As-Built Drafter Technician, you will be responsible for preparing and managing as-built plans, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring accurate documentation of site conditions. This role involves working closely with the VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) staff to support the ongoing development and maintenance of architectural and engineering documents.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interacts extensively with VAPAHCS staff on a recurring basis to assess progress and prioritization of tasks and updates.

  • Prepare and manage existing inventory of VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) as-builts plans, central models, and digital files for all buildings in Revit, AutoCAD, and PDF files.

  • Coordinate with VA CFM Resident Engineers (RE), VAPAPHCS Project Managers (PM) to ensure as-built documents are properly save, archive, and accessible.

  • Site verify as-built drawings.

  • Develop & manage the AutoCAD & Revit file sytem. Organize and maintain a systematic filing system for as-built drawings, ensuring easy retrieval, reference, and updates.

  • Coordinate with vLogic with redline markups to update AE plans to reflect current built condition (site plans, floor plans, MEP, data, etc.).

  • Coordinate with vLogic on missing as-built documents.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in drafting and CAD/BIM file management for commercial, industrial, healthcare, or campus projects.

  • Ability to perform drafting skills in Revit, as evidenced by competency in the following domains outlined by Autodesk (or industry equivalent) certification programs: a. Modeling (8 sub-domains for User certification): Work with Walls; b. Modeling (8 sub-domains for User certification): Add doors, windows, and openings; c. Display (4 sub-domains for User certification); d. Documentation (6 sub-domains for User certification); e. Modeling (6 sub-domains for Professional certification); f. Documentation (7 sub-domains for Professional certification); g. Collaboration and coordination (6 sub-domains for Professional certification); h. Project standards and settings (4 sub-domains for Professional certification); i. Information analysis (3 sub-domains for Professional certification).

  • Ability to perform drafting skills in AUTOCAD, as evidenced by competency in the following domains outlined by Autodesk (or industry equivalent) certification programs: a. Understand and apply drafting concepts and standards; b. Set up, manage, and organize drawings; c. Link and reference external files and data; d. Author and edit drawing content; e. Apply annotations and detailing to drawings; f. Use collaboration tools; g. Configure and manage design output.

  • Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards.

  • Ability to obtain and assemble data to complete as-built documents and conduct site verifications.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, for technical discussions, report preparation, and project record maintenance.

  • Experience in organizing and managing as-built files in Revit, AutoCAD, and PDF formats.

  • CAD and Revit work samples required for review.

  • Must lawfully reside in the United States and eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits)
