VMware Director, Corporate Restructuring/Mergers and Acquisitions Data & Analytics Lead in Palo Alto, California

The Director will work with key business customers and Mergers and Acquisitions teams and our Integration Management Office (IMO) to directly review, assess and support all data needs for ongoing mergers and acquisitions of the company and manage the overall work effort for M&A deals.

The position requires the Director to be a self-starter and hands on data professional with strong leadership, project / program management, analytical, and training skills who is comfortable working with distributed teams, at all levels of the organization.

The position will report into the Head of Data & Analytics, Corporate Services and be the point of contact into the Integration Management Office, Corporate Strategy and Investment Strategy teams for all data related inquiries, deliverables and assessments for corporate restructuring (e.g. M&A, divestitures) deals.

Job Role and Responsibility

  • Lead corporate restructuring data projects, taking ownership of successful completion for the end to end life cycle from initial assessment to full integration and beyond

  • Provide guidance and expertise through data management assessments, be the point of contact on integration inquiries, detailed data strategy, architecture and integration reviews of the target companies to ensure integration work completes according to plan

  • Support the process for tracking of post close economic tracking of the corporate restructuring deals

  • Perform exploratory data analysis – identifying trends and key drivers of metrics; provide guidance and develop tools and reports for any ad hoc visualization, analytic requirements of M&A deals

  • Create in-depth business assessments to raise potential data related issues during and in preparation for target migration or assessment

  • Direct partner engagement with business teams and management of partner relationships with the working group leads

  • Develop expertise on business processes and data drivers to recommend solutions to data, data environment, architecture and process integration business problems

  • Partner closely with IT teams on functional requirements and design to drive successful end state solutions and user experiences

  • Collaborate with functions like Corporate Strategy, Investment Strategy and Integration Management Office towards the definition of key performance indicators and metrics to monitor success of each deal

  • Lead and mentor the team that executes on data integration activities

  • Support communication, training, and documentation to enable successful integration

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 12 -15 years’ experience in Data Management and Business analysis

  • Experience with and solid understanding of key master and transactional data needs of a software/technology company

  • Experience with and solid understanding of data strategy and architecture management and data management principles

  • Proficient in MS Office (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access)

  • Clear, professional, and concise communications (written/verbal), presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Consulting experience a plus

  • Prior M&A experience especially with data integration and mapping a plus

  • Consultative approach and persuasive communication with partners

  • Ability to take initiative and to set priorities independently

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Staff management experience a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, preference for Computer Science or Business Administration
