ABOUT THE ROLE

As a CBRE Senior Building Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining medium to large-sized buildings; providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems. Working under limited supervision, monitors building system operations and performance. Uses several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling.

  • Must live within designated radius of the job site to reliably work schedule/shift.

  • Must be comfortable with extensive everyday travel in the San Francisco, CA area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Aligns with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.

  • Inspects building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by client.

  • Coordinates and inspects the work performed by outside contractors: contracted work includes landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC, plumbers, and cleaning.

  • Performs assigned repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance.

  • Completes maintenance and repair records as the need arises.

  • Reviews assigned work orders.

  • Estimates time and materials needed to complete repair.

  • Orders vital materials and supplies to finish the tasks.

  • Maintains an energy management program to ensure measures are taken to operate all systems in the most efficient manner to keep operating costs at a minimum.

  • Maintains the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements.

  • Performs welding, carpentry, furniture assembly and locksmith tasks as needed.

  • Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area. Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Optimally recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop proficiencies. Leads and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • Minimum of two years of campus facilities maintenance or related experience (building/engineering operations) and/or trade school training.

  • Experience in building plumbing and electrical systems.

  • Experience working in high rise buildings.

  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record with periodic checks.

  • May be subject to additional requirements of the client.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

Universal EPA refrigerant certification required. Certification / license in two or more of the following is desired, and certain certifications may be required by local / state jurisdiction: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, boiler, plumbing.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems.

Ability to analyze possible solutions using technical experience to apply appropriate judgment and precedents.

Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.

In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

*California Residents: CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training and experience. The salary range is $38 - $41 per hour. The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications and experience.
