Kaiser Permanente Assessment & Evaluation Analyst - School of Medicine in Pasadena, California

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Assessment & Evaluation, the Assessment & Evaluation Analyst support the implementation of curricular evaluation processes at the KP School of Medicine (KPSOM). This individual work closely with the Psychometrician/Statistician in data monitoring and management. Primary activities consist of the collection, management, and reporting of evaluative results to a diverse stakeholder group (e.g., students, staff, faculty, clinicians, and administrators). Other responsibilities include supporting the medical education research program. Alongside with members of the A&E unit, contribute to the development of a system of learning analytics for the medical degree (MD) program. In addition, coordinate A&E-related services and activities, including developing communications and materials, organizing logistics, and maintaining databases for evaluation and research projects and programs.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support overall evaluation and research project progress by conducting and preparing literature reviews for manuscript preparation.

  • Scan, search and retrieve medical education assessment and evaluation literatures.

  • Assist with writing articles, manuscripts, summary papers, reports, and other communications for submission to health professions education journals.

  • Create and maintain manuscript submission processes.

  • Coordinate, collect, manage, and report curriculum evaluation and student assessment data for diverse internal and external audiences in a useful and accurate manner, ensuring that reports are produced in an accurate, clear and concise format.

  • Practice effective data management skills by creating and maintaining tracking systems, databases, entering/coding data, and performing data extractions and merges as needed.

  • Conduct basic quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis. Assure timely and accurate data handling.

  • Assist in data quality monitoring.

  • Develop programs and methodologies for analyzing and presenting data.

  • Enter data elements in an accurate, conscientious, efficient, and productive manner. Assist in data collection as appropriate. Work with other departments and units to obtain information or downloads for maintenance of database.

  • Design and perform data queries and manipulation to obtain data for analyses. Prepare responses to requests for information.

  • Generate reports as requested. Sort, duplicate, and distribute reports as appropriate.

  • Prepare and develop presentations materials for academic, organizational, and lay audiences

  • Masters degree in Evaluation, Education, Statistics, Anthropology, Sociology, or related social sciences.

    Additional Requirements:

  • Experience in evaluation and survey platforms (e.g., MedOasis, E*Value, MedHub, Explorance Blue, Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, etc.).

  • Experience with statistical, qualitative analysis, and data visualization software packages (e.g., Alteryx, Dedoose, NVivo, SPSS, Tableau, etc.).

  • Ability to apply qualitative analysis principles (e.g., inductive and deductive coding approaches, constant comparative method, etc.).

  • Knowledge of database architecture principles.

  • Strong ability to pay attention to details, problem solve, and identify appropriate solutions.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Analytic decision-making skills required to complete activities/tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Strong writing and communication skills.

  • Ability to become familiar with new topics quickly, ability to meet challenging deadlines amidst multiple priorities.

  • Orientation to collaborating with others, and synthesizing information from multiple stakeholders into a coherent work product.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience meaningfully contributing to research/evaluation studies, or academic and/or health professions education projects.

  • Experience with project management principles and tools (e.g., SmartSheet, Asana, etc.).

  • Experience in computer, printer, and software programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, other software programs and basic office equipment).

  • Experience with internet-based communication and collaboration platforms (e.g., Zoom, GoToMeeting, WebEx, Skype, etc.).

  • Experience writing technical reports, including results of qualitative and quantitative analyses.
