THE POSITION

The Insurance Department, Financial Analysis Division is seeking an Insurance Company Financial Analyst Manager that will place a high priority on meeting deadlines set forth by management. This position gives you the opportunity to oversee assigned analysts and review financial submissions from Insurance Companies, which may include insurance holding company systems and affiliated non-insurance companies and other licensed or regulated entities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will supervise assigned staff and external contractors, determine section priorities and standards, develop, implement, and evaluate program processes, interpret laws, regulations, and policies, as well as manage workflow in order to meet timeliness, best practices, and quality standards. You will have the opportunity to correspond and communicate with company executives, department staff, other regulators, and the NAIC to investigate issues identified during the analysis process and evaluate whether additional regulatory actions are warranted. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Instructing staff on the application of risk-focused surveillance concepts, best practices, and advanced analytical skills

  • Coordinating with staff on financial and post-financial examinations

  • Reviewing, coaching, and revising the updated Insurer Profile Summary (IPS) and/or Group Profile Summary (GPS) on a timely basis

  • Entering data in databases or spreadsheets

  • Reviewing and performing research

  • Developing and conducting internal training

  • Providing technical guidance and interpretation to subordinate staff and associates

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

  • Work hours may be flexible based upon operational need (7:30-4, 8-4:30, 8:30-5).

  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as an Insurance Company Financial Analyst 2 (commonwealth title);or

  • Four years of professional accounting, auditing, financial investigation, financial compliance, or insurance market conduct experience; and a bachelor’s degree in insurance, accounting, finance, statistics, economics, public administration, business administration, or a closely related field, which includes 15 credits in accounting, finance, or auditing;or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 15 credits in accounting, finance, or auditing.
