Actalent Entry Level Drafter in Pensacola, Florida

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an entry level Mechanical Designer/Drafter, to join their growing team. The company designs, fabricates, and installs air handling systems for pulp and paper facilities. This person will be part of the design department and will be trained how to support their business. The design department is responsible for working with the customer, fabrication shop and filed crews. They take specifications for what customers are requesting and design from start to finish. The designers travel to customer sites and take field measurements. They use existing drawings from the customer and the data collected, draw project specifications, send to the customer for approval, make adjustments as requested, and provide estimates based on cost of materials and installation.

Essential Job Duties

  • Design Ductwork and Mechanical systems for industrial air handling systems, using AutoCAD 3D (sometimes 3D).

  • Produce detailed drawing packages from design documents and field measurements.

  • Perform tasks required to complete field measurements and detailed note taking.

  • Responsible for all stages of design, from concept through detailing.

  • Perform Material takeoffs.

Qualifications:

  • Must have formal training in AutoCAD, through a certification program or technical degree OR previous experience in similar discipline of AutoCAD drafting.

  • Mechanical design or drafting experience is a plus.

  • Skills associated with mechanical construction/fabrication disciplines is a plus (plumbing, piping, sheet metal, ductwork).

  • Ability to perform tasks required to complete field measurements and detailed note taking.

  • Willingness and ability to travel required, with per diem pay.

  • Must show up looking professional every day. They are casual dressed, but need to wear things professional….jeans and a nice shirt tucked in. Look neat.

  • Work ethic is very important. They want people that are early to work and willing to work hard to get the job done.
