The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Clinical Research Assistant II - bilingual (Spanish/English) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 1008014 SHIFT:Day (United States of America)

The successful, bilingual (Spanish/English) candidate will join the research team of Dr. Katherine Yun at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Our team comprises health services and informatics researchers focused on health equity. Dr. Yun is a pediatrician who studies access to care for immigrant families. Her work requires fluency in languages in addition to English (e.g., Spanish).

Under moderate supervision, this bilingual (English/Spanish) team member will coordinate clinical research activities within the scope of the Family Bridge Program protocols. The Family Bridge Program is a brief, hospital-based, patient navigator intervention to improve access and quality of care for uninsured or Medicaid-enrolled children, including children in families who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, or Somali. Activities will include delivering the intervention at CHOP and supporting program evaluation. Specifically, the bilingual CRA will recruit participants, complete baseline interviews, and deliver the intervention in Spanish, Vietnamese (with interpreting), Somali (with interpreting), and English. Work will be guided by a bicoastal, bilingual group of community/parent advisors, as well as input from hospital-based stakeholders.

The ideal bilingual (English/Spanish) applicant will have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, a strong interest both in research and in working directly with diverse families, experience with professional writing in Spanish, and a deep understanding of challenges navigating access to pediatric care and social services for children in immigrant, uninsured, and/or publicly insured families.
