This grant-funded position reports to the WELL Associate Director of Adult Education. The WELL Math Literacy Instructor will provide Adult Basic Education (ABE) and literacy instruction in a workforce context to participants in the WELL Program at the TU-Lenfest Center for Community Workforce Partnerships on the main campus, remotely, and as assigned within the Philadelphia community. The qualified candidate will provide evidence of a secondary-education Mathematics certification or completion of academic courses that demonstrate equivalent knowledge of and competence in teaching mathematics concepts and processes up to secondary education level (7-12) and ABE level equivalency six and assisting with data and technology-related processes. All literacy instructors are expected to be flexible regarding instructional assignments. Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to: teach, motivate, and relate positively to adult learners; learn and apply instructional tools, websites, resources, and technologies effectively; successfully access and apply PA educational standards for College and Career Readiness (CCRS) and Common Core Standards (CCS); be knowledgeable of Adult Basic Education, Philadelphia Dept. of Education (PDE) instructional guidelines, and Philadelphia ABE coalitions. Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in education, Adult Education, TESOL, or related field and at least six (6) months of experience working with academically challenged adult populations. Experience teaching ESL, Reading, Social Studies, Science, or Math classes.  *Math instructors teaching high school level mathematics (level E of the CCRS) must have secondary math teaching certification or a bachelor's degree or higher, ensuring knowledge of all content required in the Subject Specific Program Guidelines for PA Mathematics 7-12 certification. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for all instructional positions.

Required Skills & Abilities: *Ability to work at a computer terminal and stand for extended periods. *Ability to handle repeated contact with the public throughout each day. *Ability to communicate in person, by phone, and via electronic communication. *Ability to travel to off-site locations (local and regional) that may not be accessible via public transportation. *Ability to travel by foot, on public transportation, or use his/her car (travel reimbursement is available from the Main Campus). *Ability to update and implement face-to-face and online lessons based on assigned teaching responsibilities. *Ability to incorporate career readiness, digital literacy, critical thinking, goal attainment, and test-taking strategies into lessons. *Ability to schedule individual student meetings to discuss and document learner progress. *Ability to monitor student time and attendance and assist with data entry as assigned. *Ability to attend and participate in staff meetings and contribute to professional learning communities. *Ability to teach, motivate, and relate positively to adult learners. *Ability to effectively learn and utilize educational tools, inst uctional websites, and related resources and technologies. *Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with diverse populations of staff and students. *Demonstrated knowledge of adult education, workforce development, and career transitional services *Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills. *Ability to operate standard office and training equipment. *Demonstrated proficiency with Internet, E-mail, Outlook, Google Apps, Zoom, MS Word, MS PowerPoint *Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Preferred: *Familiarity with state and local adult education policies and resources. *Familiarity with workforce readiness and digital literacy, and instructional resources. *Knowledgeable of PA Dept. of Education data systems.

This is a grant-funded position. This position requires a background check. This position requires Child Abuse Certifications before the commencement of service. This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
