A Brief Overview This position will be based in the Translational Core Laboratory (TCL).The TCL provides laboratory testing and specimen processing services to support clinical, translational, and basic research studies. The incumbent will perform immunoassays and hematology, coagulation, and chemistry testing on biospecimens on various platforms.The incumbent will help to develop and implement SOPs, quality control procedures, cost-recovery processes, and expansion of services.The incumbent will be expected to maintain compliance to ensure that best practices and quality standards are utilized to support for translational and pre-clinical research.The incumbent will be responsible for helping to provide technical and operational guidance for the day-to-day operations of the TCL. The individual will be committed to continuous process improvement and performing with integrity and accountability

What you will do Performs research procedures on experimental samples with minimal supervision Formulates and performs complex lab experiments and analyzes/ reports the data Performs tasks that require knowledge of advanced techniques and lab equipment Performs advanced calculations and maintains appropriate log and lab notebooks Assists with planning specific research protocols and procedures Assists in development & troubleshooting of new techniques and ideas May be required to modify scientific methods and protocols (in conjunction with PI) Checks others' results for completeness and accuracy May be responsible for training and mentoring new staff May assist in the preparation of grants journal articles, posters and oral presentations May perform routine and non-routine tests / experiments as needed Maintains office, lab area, reagents, supplies and equipment Performs routine maintenance on lab equipment Coordinates schedules of tests & procedures Attends courses, seminars, and lab meetings to expand knowledge of research and laboratory techniques Records results, organizes data and maintains lab notebook in an organized manner Conducts literary searches as required Independently performs advanced, complex laboratory service procedures on human and non-human biomedical specimens. Analyzes and organizes results and provides reports to clients. Helps to train and mentor Jr. and new staff members. Assists in determining work assignments, schedules, and laboratory priorities. Assists in troubleshooting ongoing services. Assist in protocol/method development. Prepares laboratory reagents, monitors and maintains laboratory inventory and instruments. Evaluates new methods, techniques, or equipment and makes recommendations to the director and laboratory manager. Assists in the research and development of new service assays, and validation and implementation as a routine protocol. Serves as a technical resource throughout the or anization and professional community. Presents & discusses work at weekly lab meetings Education Qualifications High School Diploma / GED Required Bachelor's Degree Preferred Experience Qualifications At least two (2) years of related classroom experience or successful completion of a technical training program (eg. Wistar, WPSI) and research laboratory experience Required At least three (3) years of related classroom experience or successful completion of a technical training program (eg. Wistar, WPSI) and research laboratory experience Preferred Skills and Abilities Advanced understanding of lab procedures, protocols, and equipment. Intermediate proficiency with lab specific experiments / techniques. Intermediate scientific analysis skills. Excellent verbal and written communications skills Excellent organizational skills Strong critical thinking / problem-solving skills Strong analytical skills
