A Brief Overview The Respiratory Extern works within the Respiratory Care Department to deliver limited respiratory care support services under the supervision of an individual holding a Pennsylvania license. The Respiratory Extern provides supportive care to patients, including surveillance of monitoring equipment; assists respiratory care practitioners in the provision of care to pediatric patients and their families; and maintains a clean, comfortable, and well-stocked area.

What you will do Performs equipment set-up and monitoring under direct supervision of RT/Preceptor. Assists in the provision of care to patients and families under the supervision of RT/Preceptor. Demonstrates an awareness of research. Education Qualifications High School Diploma / GED Required Associate's Degree Current enrollment in Respiratory Therapist program Required Skills and Abilities Ability to handle confidential information appropriately. Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Required
