Honeywell is launching the development of a new family of gas turbine engines that will help shape the future of the aerospace industry. The new family will be lighter, quieter, and more powerful while running 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Honeywell is hiring engineers to accomplish this challenging new feat. We are looking to hire individuals who thrive on thinking big, have an appetite for growth, and a passion for winning.

As an integral member of the Materials Engineering team at Honeywell Aerospace you will apply deep knowledge of materials qualification and verification practices and materials engineering principals to advance the materials technologies necessary for certification of our new gas turbine engine product line. You will use refined project leadership skills to influence teams to solve various materials challenges through characterization and simulation of materials properties and processes while coaching others to do the same.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use your strength of materials engineering to develop high temperature materials for gas turbine engines

  • Lead development of engineers to understand materials solutions to progress process development

  • Recognize processing history in the material qualification results and explain meaning of the results to upper leadership, peers, and to early career engineers

  • Performs expert level independent research to discover seemingly impossible materials engineering solutions

  • Lead and mentor engineers through problem solving of various aerospace materials and processes

  • Lead and perform role model project leadership for complex technical development projects

  • Use a data science approach with materials science principals to develop and execute design of experiments using computational materials software (ICME)

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering, or related field

  • 18 months of experience performing materials qualification and/or computational material simulations for aerospace materials

WE VALUE

  • PhD/Masters level education in metallurgy, ceramics, polymers, and/or composites

  • Experience leading project teams in developing materials solutions and/or problem-solving complex materials challenges

  • Knowledge in Aerospace alloys such as Ni-based superalloys, titanium alloys, aluminum alloys, and steels (not necessarily all alloys)

  • Knowledge in Aerospace composites, ceramics, and engineering plastics (not necessarily all)

  • Experience with data science

  • Competency in computational software (DEFORM, PROCAST, SYSWELD, etc.)

  • Project management experience

  • Ability to analyze and communicate complex results to key stakeholders to influence decision making

  • Excellent communication at all levels with demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional, technical audience including Chief engineers and technology Fellows

  • Individuals who are self-motivated who consistently take the initiative to get things done and influence others to achieve on-time commitments and on-plan execution

  • Ability to consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness

  • Ability to cope with high demand environment where priorities change frequently, and multiple projects are being worked at the same time
