DESCRIPTION OF WORK Within this role, you will conduct duties as a Protective Services Case Aide in the Prevention Division/Protective Services Unit and under the general supervision of the Casework Supervisor.  You will assist professional and technical social services personnel in providing information and referral activities to senior citizens to help them better understand the community resources available to meet their individual needs as they pertain to safety, support, and protective services. We are looking for a candidate who possesses a detailed working knowledge of the cultural, physical, and social environment of the geographical area or program and an understanding of the technical procedures and practices involved in performing a brief assessment of individual situations.  Specific duties and responsibilities include:

Notify licensing entities of allegations of abuse and financial exploitation involving facility employees and residents in facilities.

Complete Reports of Need (RON) for consumer situations described as having the potential to meet Protective Services requirements.

Complete RON's taken by back-up telephone agents for completeness and  assignment.

Review and correct error reports as assigned.

Complete case reviews and confirms Provider receipt of RON's.

Complete Contractor service orders and service deliveries for financial billings as assigned.

Answer calls and meeting with walk-ins (in-person or virtual) to DHS/AAA Protective Services Unit as scheduled.

Identify and confirm needs and provide callers and walk-ins with relevant and accurate information to access appropriate resources and programs to meet those needs, including completing a RON or a referral to the most appropriate resource.

Explain the Protective Services process for relevant programs to callers and walk-ins.

Request any printed information, brochures, and applications from unit clerical staff to be sent to callers or walk-ins in a timely manner.  Refer those with computer access to DHS/AAA website for relevant information, as appropriate.

Investigate PA Abuse Reporting Hotline, Dialtrac, County, and DHS/AAA requests and complaints, as assigned.

Document all work in the appropriate computer databases in a timely manner.

Meet with older adults at Community Resource/Info/Health Fairs to discuss DHS/AAA services and programs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Aging Case Aide 1; or Two years of public contact work, including one year in a human services program; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
