Laboratory Research Technician

The Department of Surgery's Trauma and Transfusion Medicine Research Center is looking for a highly motivated, independent, yet team-oriented Laboratory Research Technician to assist on projects for Dr Matthew Neal and Dr Susan Shea's lab. The Laboratory Research Technician will be responsible for project and specimen management, intake, logging, and processing samples for cell isolation. The incumbent will also perform basic cell and molecular biology techniques and small animal procedures. The individual must have good organization and communication skills, be highly detail-oriented, and think critically.

Job Summary

 

Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.

 

Essential Functions

Frequent standing; traveling distances between laboratories and other sites. Speaking and reading English required; excellent computer/database skills.

Physical Effort

Traveling and lifting of supplies; collaborators and/or equipment at offsite locations.
