Citizens Bank Security Engineering Technical Expert (Work at Home) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania


The Security Engineering Technical Expert position is a senior-level individual contributor role that will be primarily responsible for implementing and maintaining an enhanced security logging and monitoring (L&M) capability within the enterprise IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Collecting data via open-standard and proprietary connections

  • Developing parsing and filtering solutions to limit and/or refine data

  • Managing collected data in searchable databases and other proprietary storage solutions

  • Staying current with a broad range of new technical areas, role-specific security technologies, and the general threat landscape to ensure the chosen candidate can effectively maintain and drive an overall direction that evaluates and mitigates new and emerging threats

Office locations include Providence, RI or Pittsburgh, PA, but we are open to remote employment primarily within the eastern United States for an experienced candidate.


Experience and Skills:

  • Proven experience across operating systems, applications, and networking, with the ability to identify functional interrelationships that are pertinent to security monitoring via logs, events, transactions, and other logical indicators of system activity.

  • Proven experience with Splunk (Enterprise/Cloud/ES), QRadar, and/or other SIEM/log aggregation & analysis technologies.

  • Functional experience across multiple technologies is desired (e.g. - SIEM, IDS, syslog, packet capture, network visibility/aggregation, etc.).

  • Functional understanding of core networking concepts (e.g. – TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, NetFlow, proxy, load-balancing, etc.).

  • Scripting experience across various platforms, including Linux, WMI/PowerShell, API calls, etc.

  • Experience with cloud solutions such as AWS, Azure, or other IaaS/PaaS/SaaS environments.

  • Experience managing Linux, Windows, and/or VMware server systems a plus.

  • Demonstrated communication skills – both written and verbal.

  • Ability to interact with both technical and non-technical staff, including management and executives, with experience articulating technical material in business terms.

  • 10 years of experience working in a large, matrix-driven corporate environment desired.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience required

Hours per Week: 40

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday
