Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Summer Engineering Intern to join our Research & Development team and contribute to the development of AI tools tailored for interventional Urology. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the intersection of engineering, artificial intelligence, and medicine in a dynamic and innovative environment at the forefront of healthcare technology, and mentorship from experienced professionals in the fields of engineering, medicine, and AI. The intern will have an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects with real-world impact in the field of Interventional Urology. This internship is based in Pleasanton, CA.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our engineering and medical teams to develop AI algorithms and tools specifically designed for urological applications.

  • Assist in the collection, processing, and analysis of medical data, including but not limited to medical imaging and patient records.

  • Implement and optimize algorithms in Python to support data analysis, machine learning, and image analysis tasks.

  • Contribute to the design and development of user-friendly interfaces for medical professionals to interact with AI tools effectively.

  • Conduct literature reviews and stay updated on the latest advancements in AI technologies relevant to urology.

Education / Experience Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Prior experience in a medical field, either through coursework, internships, or research projects, is required.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

  • Proficiency in Python programming is essential.

  • Familiarization with image processing (Contour and edge detection automation).

  • Familiarity with project version control/repository software such as Git a plus.

  • Familiarity with medical imaging formats such as DICOM is a plus.

  • Familiarity with VR/AR applications is a plus

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Enthusiasm for learning and a passion for applying engineering and AI techniques to improve healthcare processes and outcomes.
