Atlantic Health System Patient Care Technician I in Pompton Plains, New Jersey

Essential Functions:

Care View Tech needs to learn to use Care View Technology to watch patients remotely and also learn the role of the PCT ADLAS bathing patients - toileting- repositioning EKG - Acchecks - post Mortem Care - transporting

  • Demonstrates understanding and proficiency of the use of the video monitoring software.

    Maintains visual observation at all times. Verbally redirects patients over digital 2-way audio device that is in patient room and immediately summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide the appropriate care to this patient population based on the patient’s individualized treatment plan as delegated by the RN.

  • Participates in hand-off of pertinent information/behavior about assigned patients when arriving and upon completion of shift assignment. Informs nurse prior to leaving monitoring station for any reason, including meal breaks, so that relief may be provided to ensure constant patient observation.

  • Seeks help or advice as soon as possible when patient appears to pose threat to themselves or others. Participates in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues. Assures patient environment safety. Alerts unit staff of any potential safety hazard from room and reports findings to Charge Nurse.

  • Assisting patients with activities of daily living; obtaining and recording vital signs, weights and heights.

  • Assisting patients with mobility: ambulation, transfer, discharges and ROM activities; performing post mortem care.

  • Measuring and recording I & O; performing EKG's, phlebotomy and blood glucose monitoring.

  • Observing and reporting changes in patients’ condition to the RN.

  • Maintaining phlebotomy equipment and inventory and all other duties as assigned .

Required:

  1. HS Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

  1. Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written

  2. Patient, compassionate nature

  3. Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and nurses

  4. Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems
