Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Portage, Wisconsin

Description We are offering an opportunity for a Payroll Specialist to join our team located in Portage, Wisconsin. This role entails preparing employee biweekly payroll, coordinating paid time off requests, tracking absenteeism, and assisting with various payroll and human resources functions. As a Payroll Specialist, you'll also provide administrative support for benefits and occasionally back up the front desk and perform various office duties.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and process employee biweekly payroll ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.

• Review and adjust employee timecards for completeness and accuracy.

• Coordinate and process paid time off (PTO) requests from request to approval, including processing cash outs of PTO when applicable.

• Track and report on employee absenteeism and enter new employee transactions, changes in personnel status, and terminated employee transactions.

• Provide administrative support for benefits, including processing and tracking of benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations.

• Assist human resources with employee disability, FMLA, and workers' compensation leaves/claims, coordinating return-to-work and light duty efforts.

• Assist with audits and resolve discrepancies, maintaining records related to grievances and disciplinary actions.

• Troubleshoot and handle time clock issues, and coordinate onboarding new employees, new hire paperwork, and training.

• Maintain employee personnel files and order and maintain office supplies and uniforms.

• Perform basic bookkeeping activities and update the accounting system, serving as back-up to accounting functions.

• Assist with reference checks and verifications of employment, preparing and analyzing payroll information and reports.

• Communicate and interact positively, effectively, and respectfully with internal and external customers, acting as a resource for employees and responding to employee/supervisor questions regarding payroll issues.

• Understand and apply pay practices, benefits, leave, and discharge language according to regulations and agreements.

• Process weekly and biweekly payroll. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Ability to perform Accounting Functions effectively

• Experience in Processing Bi-weekly Payroll

• Extensive knowledge and expertise in Payroll management

• Experience in Answering Inbound Calls professionally

• Familiarity with Benefits Coordination tasks

• Understanding of Benefits Payroll procedures and management
