Providence Health & Services Adult Behavioral Health Therapist - LPC in Portland, Oregon

Description:

Providence is calling a full-time Behavioral Health Therapist (1.0 FTE, Days) to our PH/IOP Program for Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.

This position is for a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to work with patients at PPMC in our adult Partial Hospitalization / Intensive Outpatient Program, which operates Monday-Saturday days. In addition to intake assessments and individual therapy, this position will focus heavily on running groups (skills building and process groups) to build a community of support for those in need.

In this position, you will:

  • Independently practice in an evaluation or treatment setting dedicated to evaluation and treatment of psychiatric and substance use disorders.

  • Collaborate with patient/support system in evaluating, diagnosing patients utilizing current edition Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and providing specialized psychotherapy services as described in CPT to reduce and /or resolve symptoms of psychiatric and/or substance use disorders identified.

  • Utilize established approaches and standards to complete assessment of patient risk to self and/or others, complete and implement risk reduction/mitigation plans to ensure patient and community safety.

  • Incorporate evidence based approaches to psychotherapy including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialetical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Recovery Model.

  • Demonstrate effectiveness in individual, group and family psychotherapy and multi-modal treatment settings.

  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities consistent with the licensure and association code of ethics, and shall perform duties in a manner that respects patient self-determination, reduces health disparities/barriers to care, and adheres to their Standards of Practice and the Providence mission.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Masters degree eligible for licensure as Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in accordance with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors

  • LPC or LMFT licensure with the state of Oregon

  • Certification to assess and implement a Directors Hold as delegate to Mental Health Authority within 6 months of hire

  • 2 years of post Masters experience in a behavioral health treatment setting

  • For those in a dedicated Chemical Dependency treatment program, a CADC is required, or 60 hours of approved continuing education units (CEUs) in diagnosis and treatment of substance use disorders within 1 year of hire

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Seasoned therapist facilitating group sessions

  • Additional experience in substance use treatment setting
