We are seeking a creative, friendly, and organized HR professional to join our Portland support office, hybrid/3 days onsite. This role will focus on onboarding, employee relations, culture, communication, and HR administration, among other generalist duties. Primary focus will be manufacturing and hourly support teams but will also assist in providing support to the entire organization and broader HR team as needed.

The Basics

Under the direction of the Senior HR Manager, the Human Resources Generalist has the primary responsibility to provide human resources support to Ann Sacks Tile & Stone, a division of Kohler Luxury Brands.

This position will support the linking of HR activity to the success and strength of the organization, interfacing in all aspects of the business to bring HR activity into alignment with organizational goals. This role supports organizational success through progressive and responsive HR practices.

Specific Responsibilities

Administration

  • Serves as the primary owner of all personnel ACTs (transactions), working with functional managers to complete the process.

  • Develop and maintain position descriptions & position numbers for all current and newly created positions in the group.

  • Maintain compliance with all governmental organizations related to the HR function.

  • Maintain accurate paper and electronic employee records.

  • Maintain and organize general HR files and SOPs.

  • Liaison with payroll department to resolve employee concerns.

  • Assists with the creation of internal HR communications, trainings decks, meetings etc.

  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Recruiting & Integration

  • Drive the new hire integration experience.

  • Serve as liaison for the recruiter for key positions, working with hiring managers to develop search criteria and coordinate the total recruitment project, ensuring timely action, cost effective strategies, and a professional and positive contact for candidates.

  • Handle the pre-employment testing process for specific roles.

  • Manage temporary staffing agency relationships, and coordinate with hiring managers interacting with staffing agencies to fill key roles.

  • New hire communication and follow up (send 7, 30, 90-day check in reminders)

  • Recruiting process support and compliance, requests or creates new job requisitions.

Policy and Procedure

  • Support the process of updating human resource policies and procedures, which may include ownership of specific policy areas and/or updating projects.

  • Monitor compliance with government mandated regulations.

  • Monitor management compliance with human resources policies and procedures

  • Act as a liaison with the Kohler legal department as necessary.

Training

  • Track and promote compliance training related to state regulations including mandatory sexual harassment training for CA based associates.

Employee Development / Relations

  • Partner with supervisors and HR leader on handling individual HR concerns, such as complaints, performance issues, terminations, promotions etc.

  • Serve as a key partner to driving the employee engagement process, including deployment of engagement surveys, partnering with Ann Sacks management on the planning and execution of key initiatives to drive overall business unit engagement.

  • Act as a liaison between employees and management.

  • Maintains and responds to general employee inquiries to specified service levels, utilizing good judgement to escalate to senior HR partners as needed.

Benefits Administration

  • Advocates and drives employee wellbeing initiatives, such as onsite health screenings.

  • Serve as liaison for workers’ comp, leave of absence and disability claims as needed.

  • Support general employee inquiries and liaison with the Kohler benefits department as necessary.

  • Communication skills to engage with others thoughtfully, through the lens of inclusivity.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field preferred, but not required. Candidates with a variety of educational backgrounds and experiences are encouraged to apply.

  • Requires minimum of 2 years of HR, Recruitment, or related administrative experience, with preference given to experience in a manufacturing, retail, or distributed sales environment.

  • Proficiency using Microsoft or similar office products required.

  • Skills to work independently and problem solving, utilizing good judgement.

  • High level of organization and attention to detail.

  • Skills to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

The salary range for this position is $63,100 - $79,500. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
