Full -time Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant and/or Nurse Practitioner - Vassar Brothers Medical Center (75 minutes north of New York City)* Sign On Bonus Offer*

Vassar Brothers Medical Center’s Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery has two excellent opportunities for a Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant and/or Nurse Practitioner to join its dynamic team. The award winning 3-star heart program is led by Dr. Abeel Mangi. We have an outstanding group of PAs and NPs who are the backbone of our surgical program and work in a collaborative and positive work environment. One position is inclusive of the operating room and the other is focused on patient management.

Responsibilities:

  • 1st assisting in major and minor cardiac surgical cases

  • Endoscopic vessel harvesting (saphenous vein and radial artery)

  • Open Radial artery harvesting

  • CTICU management

  • Floor management

  • Central line, thoracentesis, chest tube placement and all procedures typical to this specialty

  • Post-op office

  • TAVR back-up

  • Launching a robotic program in 2025

  • Vassar Aorta Surveillance opportunities

Qualifications

For the operative focused position, a minimum of 2 years of current surgical experience is required. This is an excellent opportunity for the right surgical PA to transition to cardiac. Robotic surgical experience is a plus but not required.

For the patient management focused role, inpatient hospital care and floor management experienced required. Experience in an ICU setting is preferred.

Vassar has recently opened a new 696,000 square-foot, seven-level inpatient pavilion with 264 private medical/surgical patient rooms and 30 critical care rooms.

Compensation Base: $158,000-$215,000/ year relative to experience
