Salary Range:$80,000.00 To $95,000.00 Annually

The starting annual base pay for this role is between $80,000 and $95,000. The actual base is dependent upon many factors such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands. The base range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

JOB PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for supervising all aspects of production in machine shop and sheet metal fabrication with a focus on continuously improving productivity, operating processes, and team skillsets through training, cross-training and teamwork. Includes ongoing communication with various departments such as Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, Safety, and Maintenance to managing resources, scheduling, and customer expectations driven by internal metrics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Monitor production activities to obtain on-time deliveries to customers by utilizing ERP system and MS Excel. Adjust schedules and/or priorities as necessary to be successful.
  • Provide input to develop SOP's and training documents to improve workflows and training.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues.
  • Evaluate machine capacity to ensure efficient production with minimal downtime. Ensure regular preventive and corrective maintenance is completed properly, on schedule and as needed.
  • Participate in and have substantial input in all personnel decisions related to your team.
  • Allocate personnel to meet the production demand schedule.
  • Ensure punctual, reliable, and acceptable attendance and approves employee's hours including overtime and PTO.
  • Report daily status and priorities of production workload to Director of Operations.
  • Work with order intake, engineering, design and manufacturing teams regarding cost and scheduling for multiple projects.
  • Monitor and maintain materials inventory continually to ensure no production delays.
  • Establish workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity.
  • Reviews and/or initiates purchase requisitions for materials and supplies as needed to support production demands.
  • Maintains staff by daily balancing, reviewing clock-in and out times, recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Conducts regular team meetings to communicate updates on production, HR and Safety.
  • Assists in the development and execution of on-the-job' training programs, refresher training, and specialized training for production personnel.
  • Promote the Safety-First principle with employees. Participate as an active member of the Safety Committee and conduct floor walks/audits periodically to de-risk operations. Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED), required. College degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience directly supervising employees within a production environment, highly desired.
  • 5S Lean Manufacturing experience is highly desired.
  • Ability to lead employees and ensure that training and development is performed.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Adherence to safety rules and ability to promote a healthy safety culture.
  • Time management skills - capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Good listener and communicator. Strong interpersonal communication and organizing skills.
  • Fluency in English required, Vietnamese or Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication and/or CNC machining preferred.
  • Experience with new product introduction, high-mix / low-volume manufacturing is a plus.
  • Good decision-making skills and response to high-pressure situations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing duties of this job, the employees is regularly required to stand; use hands, and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hand and arms; and talk to hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to lift and climb balancing. Frequent walking, bending, lifting, and reaching.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds with the ability to lift up-to 50pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) or protective gear daily.
  • Occasionally exposed to risk OD electrical shock.
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts, humid condition, fumes, or airborne particles, flying metal burrs and chips and possible chemical irritants such as water-based coolants, hydraulic oils, degreasing soap and mineral spirit.
  • Occasionally exposed to uncomfortable cold or heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Exposed to hazardous equipment on a weekly basis.
