As a Principal Software Engineering Manager on the .NET Product Construction Services team, you will have the unique opportunity to drive the success of .NET by leading the team that manages services and tools used to construct the .NET product, as well as the automation used to release it. Your role will involve not just managing a high-performing team, but also close cooperation with partner teams both in Redmond and Prague to formulate and execute vision for systems used to build, construct, and release the .NET product through all its acquisition channels.

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision and direction for the .NET product construction and release systems.

  • Lead, coach, and nurture a diverse, inclusive and high-performing team to excel in software development.

  • Empower the team to develop and operate secure, reliable, and maintainable systems.

  • Establish strong partnerships with fellow engineering managers and product owners to deeply understand their business objectives.

  • Develop and execute project plans, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Emphasize a culture of collaboration, quality and engineering excellence.

  • Mentor, coach, and act as a role model to encourage the professional and technical growth of those around you.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and senior level practical experience.

  • Experience in management or team leadership roles, demonstrating the ability to lead and influence across teams.

  • Proficiency with at least one programming language (preferably C#, but can also be Java, Go, Python, ...).

  • Excellent analytical skills with systematic and structured approach to software design.

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.

Suggested Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of the .NET platform and its evolution.

  • Solid understanding of build systems, engineering services and release infrastructure.

  • Proven experience in the operational aspects of software development.

  • Proficiency in utilizing the Azure cloud computing platform.

  • Passion to deep dive in technology and the ability to zoom out to frame the big picture.

  • Experience with open-source projects and related tooling.
